All New for 1997, America by Bicycle proudly announces the B.A.R.N.E.S. TOUR, Bicycle ARound New England in the Summertime. This new event will give cyclists from all across the country the opportunity to see New England on their own terms this summer. The B.A.R.N.E.S. Tour will take cyclists on a loop of New England over 460 miles in 7 days. The B.A.R.N.E.S. Tour will start in Maine and depart the seaside town of Portland. Cyclists will be thrilled to ride along the scenic and rocky Maine coast for two days as they ride to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. From there we'll pick up the milage a little and head across central Massachusetts over to the Berkshire Mountains. You will see and cycle through many small New England Towns. Rolling along we'll head back north and cycle up into Vermont. The terrain is rolling, the people friendly and the cycling rural riding at its best. Norman Rockwell would love this tour and so will you as we again swing back into New Hampshire. The mileage again picks up as we head back into Maine for a Century Ride the final day returnign us to Portland and the Maine Coast. This is a terrific ride!
