General Tour Information

On-Road Service

America by Bicycle has many “extra” amenities available while you ride, such as:
  • Ride Leaders
  • SAG Wagons
  • Mechanical Support
  • A Rolling Bike Shop
  • Medical Support
  • Luggage Transportation
  • Friendly and Supportive Staff

  • Support Staff

All tours feature experienced, knowledgeable, friendly and supportive staff. We offer excellent client to staff ratio, typically one staff to every 5 to 8 cyclists. All our staff are cyclists and know what you need to achieve your goals.

    Scheduled SAG Stops

Provide an opportunity to rest and refuel with snacks, fresh fruit, water and sport drinks.

    Support Vehicles

All tours have a superior ratio of support vehicles to cyclists. From luggage / equipment trucks to mechanic and SAG vans, support vehicles are visible and on the route daily to provide assistance and transportation. SAG vehicles are 15 passenger vans that have great capacity to transport cyclists and their bicycles.

    Accommodations

As a rider on an America by Bicycle tour you will overnight in quality motels / hotels daily. All motels are AAA rated, chosen for quality, cleanliness, comfort and room size. Riders are housed three to a room (two to a room on the Fall Foliage tour), with each rider having his/her own bed. Single and double room occupancy is available. Please ask us for these details.

    Meals

Breakfast and dinner are provided daily (breakfast and lunch on the 'Fast America' series rides). Many are buffet or all-you-can-eat style meals, each nutritionally balanced to provide the cyclist with sufficient fuel to conquer the miles. Meals will be served in fine restaurants or hotel function rooms. Vegetarians are accommodated and welcomed.

    Luggage

All your gear will be shuttled from motel to motel. You only carry what you need for the day on the bike.

    Bicycles and Helmets

A well-tuned road or touring bike is our advice to riders, however, you may ride a mountain bike, tandem or recumbent if you choose. All riders are required to wear a Snell or ANSI approved helmet at all times when cycling. No exceptions!

    Orientation and Reception

At the beginning of each tour, America by Bicycle staff will cover all the specifics of the ride from start to finish, including what to do, sights to see, terrain, history, cycling technique, bicycle care, safety precautions and much more. This is followed by a welcoming reception.

    Final Banquet

And at the end of the longer tours, a farewell banquet is scheduled. Excellent food and fun times are guaranteed as we share a final meal together and wish you a fond farewell. Family is welcome!
